Each month we'll be adding a new Islamist to our Traitor's Gate section, who we believe to be guilty of using Taqiyya to on the one hand pretend to be a decent citizen and on the other to be an Islamist having supported / supporting or having promoted / promoting jihad or those who perpetrate terrorism in the name of Islam.

The point of the Traitor's Gate section (named after the 400 year old entrance gate at the Tower of London) is to list individuals there who government - local or central or European - might come across. To make the world aware of the duplicity the culturalist (as opposed to violent) Islamists use. To advise officials never to deal with these traitors, as their one goal is an Islamist Caliphate and they'll try anything to push their goals along. To inform foreign immigration authorities of potential future visitors. And especially to inform the political Left - who often (blindly) march alongside these Islamists - of the true nature of the individuals with whom they march. The Islamist-leftist compact should wake up - political Islam is not just a disaster for many causes (like feminism and gay rights) that the left cherishes; it also overturns the Enlightenment idea that diversity of opinion is desirable.

This week, we present to you Azzam Tamimi.

 Azzam Tamimi is a Palestinian-Briton academic. He writes occasionally for the Guardian Newspaper. He is the director of the "Institute of Islamic Political Thought" in London. He has written five books including "Rachid Ghannouchi, Democrat within Islamism", Oxford University Press, 2001, and "Hamas: Unwritten Chapters", Hurst & Company, 2006. He is a regular commentator on the Arabic satellite channel al-Jazeera and makes frequent appearances on a number of other channels, both English and Arabic.

Tamimi, like Asim Qureshi (recently despatched to Traitor’s Gate), is a leading member of the Stop the War Coalition. He came to Britain more than thirty years ago, he and his family have become British citizens. He received a PhD in Political Theory from University of Westminster, London in 1998.

But the real Azzam Tamimi simply hides behind his academic and commentator labels. The real Azzam Tamimi is an extreme Islamist who clearly cares little if at all for Britain or the West, in spite of living off them (he lives in a council block in Willesden).

Tamimi has been accused of supporting the use of suicide bombings against Israel, and openly supports Hamas and Hezbollah. Watch here:

On August 20, 2006 Tamimi said in a speech at the ExpoIslamia convention in Manchester that dying for one's beliefs is just. His exact words were, "The greatest act of martyrdom is standing up for what is true and just. Martyrs are innocently murdered by occuping forces and those who die in the face of injustice. Stop this injustice. Stop this oppression."

Tamimi believes that "the war on terrorism" is a war on Islam, and said, "We are Muslims in Europe, not European Muslims... Being fair and just means finding the middle path. The middle path is not rubbing shoulders with Tony Blair and George Bush which is a belief which most normal people would believe, due to the numerous people killed in the illegal war in Iraq and Afghanistan and the ongoing support for the illegal invasion of Palestine."

In November 2004 Tamimi told the BBC that he was prepared to be a suicide bomber if needed. He said that "sacrificing myself for Palestine was a noble cause. It is the straight way to pleasing my God and I would do it if I had the opportunity".
He has repeatedly spoken out in support of Hamas and described their suicide bomb tactics as 'the courage of man'.
In July 2004, he invited the radical Sheikh Yusuf Al Qaradawi to the UK. Al Qaradawi, who spoke at a taxpayer subsidised conference in London - has called for a war on Jews and the execution of homosexuals.
Azzam Tamimi is a vile individual. TV networks and newspapers should not be allowing him to express his terrorist-supporting opinions. Through Traitor’s Gate he goes. Beware of Azzam Tamimi.
