Islam will rule over Britain, says Anjem Choudary

ImageAnjem Choudary (born in 1967) is a British Islamist and follower of Omar Bakri Mohammed. He founded two Islamist groups which were last year designated and banned as terrorist organisations by the British government.  Choudary has urged Muslims to not cooperate with the police in fighting terrorism,  and has recently called for the assassination of the Pope.  In recent years he has frequently appeared on British television and has become a figure disliked by non-Muslims and by moderate Muslims as well.

It is a common complaint of British Muslims that they face what has come to be called Islamophobia.  This is complained of not so much as a true phobia [fear] so much as a form of hatred and dislike verging on the racial - although being a Muslim is no matter of race.  Whatever the label, Islamophobia is real enough - there is real fear quite reasonably justified by violent and deadly events [but jihadiphobia might be a better term].  However, to balance this it is important to remember that most Muslims are not to be feared at all and are keen to be law-observing citizens of whichever country they live in.

Some Islamophobia is understandable, although in Britain it is more than a simple extension of the traditional xenophobia of the Anglo-Saxons.  It is additionally fuelled by the rantings of some of the very people, such as Anjem Choudary, who claim to speak for Islam whilst dismissing all non-Muslims as infidel kuffars, who they clearly hate.  This kind of rhetoric is greatly disliked by the said kuffars - and also by many peaceful Muslims.  But that does not prevent the likes of Anjem Choudary from wanting to speak for what he calls his brothers and sisters throughout the worldwide Islamic umma.  British television-viewers will have had any tendencies towards Islamophobia seriously cranked up by the rantings of Anjem Choudary on BBC Newsnight and so on - unless they are moderate Muslims, in which case they may well wish him to calm down and go away, not least when he so readily fuels the Islamophobia they say they can well do without.  It is entertaining television to see two verbalists like Anjem Choudary and  Newsnight's Jeremy Paxman battling it out but it also stimulates Islamophobia because Choudary has a small but significant following, who [like the 9/11 bombers he calls the Magnificent Nineteen], are able to create death and destruction amongst us by operating in cells of very small numbers.

THE ISLAMIC RIGHT
Written by Theodore Gold

Digg!

ImageNumerous people have asked me about the various political tendencies within what is called ‘Islamism' or ‘political Islam' or ‘Islamic fundamentalism'. This article describes briefly some relevant strands of the Islamic Right's political ideology. It is a short description of complex and sometimes highly overlapping political tendencies, organizations and networks.

I deliberately do not include here other political or apolitical tendencies, typically of the kind termed ‘orthodox', ‘reformist' or ‘mainstream'. I emphasise that the tendencies described below are not the organized beliefs of the vast majority of Muslim populations in the UK. The Islamic Right have little relation to, and usually vociferously oppose the ethnic, cultural, religious, national or secular beliefs and practices of the majority of south Asian Muslims in the UK, including most Barelwi orders, Deobandi sects (especially hayati, but also mamati), Bohras and Khojas and, of course, Ahmaddiyas. Instead, the key aims of the first three tendencies (1.- 3.) described below are to hegemonize, claim to represent nationally, or discipline UK south Asian Muslim populations (especially younger people) under their political ideologies and their organizations.

There is currently, in the environment of the so-called ‘war on terror', a witch hunt politics directed against Muslim individuals and groups in the UK, US and across Europe. This demonising is frequently indiscriminate, bigoted and fails to distinguish the Islamic Right from the vast majority of Muslims in the UK. Additionally, terms such as ‘moderate', ‘mainstream' and ‘representative' are used by government, media and various political tendencies in deceptive ways. For example, ‘moderate' or ‘mainstream' can be used to describe what are misleadingly called ‘Sufis', or groups who do not criticise Israel's alleged abuse of human rights and contraventions of international law, or groups who say Muslims should not be involved at all in the political process, or extremist groups of the Islamic Right.

Glorification of Terror
Written by Jane Blunt

Digg!

It has been a criminal offence in Britain for over one year now (since 13th April 2006) to directly or indirectly encourage terrorism; those convicted face up to seven years imprisonment. 'Direct encouragement' is largely the same as the older offence of ‘incitement'. It is 'indirect encouragement' that involves the idea of 'glorifying terrorism' as a part of its definition and thereby introduces an entirely new legal concept on to the statute books. It is an offence if a statement is issued from which it could reasonably be inferred 'that what is being glorified is being glorified as conduct that should be emulated in existing circumstances'. In order to commit an offence, one has either to intend that members of the public be encouraged to commit terrorist acts, or be reckless as to whether members of the public would be encouraged to commit acts by knowingly taking such unreasonable risk that encouragement might occur.

At a UN Security Council meeting in September 2005, the British Prime Minister Tony Blair tabled a text on terrorism which became part of resolution 1624. In the resolution, the security council declared its repudiation of attempts at the 'justification or glorification of terrorist acts' and called on states to take measures against such attempts. And, in proposing this resolution, Tony Blair offered the following account of why he believed 'glorification' legislation was necessary: terrorism is 'a movement with an ideology and a strategy... Terrorism would not be defeated until ... [our] defence of freedom was as absolute as their fanaticism, and until [our] passion for democracy as great as their passion for tyranny... Terrorism would only be defeated when the [Security] Council united not only in condemning acts of terrorism but also in fighting the poisonous propaganda that the root cause of terrorism lay with [us] and not them.' He went on: 'The root cause of terrorism was not a decision on foreign policy, however contentious, but was a doctrine of fanaticism.'

Opponents argue along the same lines as they argued against then Home Secretary Charles' Clarke's Terrorism Bill in October 2005. They point out that a limit on free speech can only be one that is ‘prescribed by law'. The concept of ‘glorification' relied on by Clause 1 is arguably too vague and imprecise to meet the requirements of that criterion. Clause 1 is not drafted with sufficient precision to enable a citizen to regulate his conduct effectively. Equally, Clause 1 is liable to operate in an arbitrary manner. Individuals who call for the use of armed resistance against despotic regimes such as the old Bath Party in Iraq or the military dictatorship in Burma are unlikely to be treated in same way as an Islamic ‘militant'. That no doubt is the intention. Yet all concerned will fall within the scope of Clause 1. This opens up the potential for the operation of the law to appear one sided and aimed at a particular community. The very community whose help we most need.

Islamists infiltrate Labour Party

A Labour minister has said his Party has been infiltrated by Islamists who want to remove democratic principles and exercise political influence and power on all levels to create an ‘Islamic social and political order' in the United Kingdom.Jim Fitzpatrick, Minister of State for the Environment, said the group called the Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE), an Islamist organisation based in London, has placed sympathisers in elected Government offices and...

Uganda Wakes Up

Uganda has finally woken up and seen the light. Uganda has indicated it will sensibly bow to international pressure and amend draconian anti-homosexual legislation that includes the death penalty for HIV-positive people convicted of having gay sex. This controversial bill was put forward by a member of the ruling party in Uganda. Uganda's president, Yoweri Museveni, said the bill had become a "foreign policy issue" and needed further consultation before being voted on in parliament. The proposed law, which...

2009 Closes

So 2009 ends with Al Qaeda’s version of the Nutcracker - the Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab stuffing explosives in his underpants and trying, but failing, to take down a transatlantic airliner as it descended into Detroit. Giving Mutallab seat 19A at Schiphol was a mistake that should lead to repaired airline security strategies. Homeland Security agencies worldwide have naturally stepped up their vigilance in case there are any other nut-exploding nutters out there with the same thing in...

HSBC MAKES GRAVE ERROR

Extreme Islamism - like all political movements - requires cash. Those who pay extreme Islamists are at best helping to further bigoted, Flintstone ideas and, at worst, they are directly funding Islamist terrorism. Since Islamists often show two faces to get what they want (in an uneducated misinterpretation, they justify this as taqiyya) a good lesson is to never pay an Islamist, whether you think he or she is an extremist or not. Not a penny. Remember that...

Another week and yet another attempted smear on me by the stained-anorak quislings of Spinwatch - the radical left wing propaganda unit (which hates Israel) operating out of Strathclyde University. A left wing kabal which buries facts and spins lies for no apparent good reason and to zero effect. A Test for the Black Red Alliance

Leftist Tools

Left-wing extremists in the United Kingdom are gaining new recruits by exploiting the ennui resulting from 60 years of prosperity and decadence. This ennui is also driving a resurgence in recruitment and radicalisation activity by "whiter" supremacist groups, pro government extremists and egalitarian movements. Continuing racial and gender disparities in outcomes, mass consumerism during a prolonged period of peace, and other consequences of contrived intra-white status jockeying, intensified by the increasing cognitive stratification of the last 30 years, seems to be...

I had no reason to doubt...
